Albuquerque’s Verge Fund has invested $1 million on new technology for hydrogen fuel cell production that could drastically cut costs.

According to a report in the Albuquerque Journal, the technology eliminates the need to use platinum, which is very expensive.

Verge created Pajarito Powder LLC to make and market the technology.

The report said customers are eager to test the technology, reflecting an interest among researchers across the globe to replace platinum in hydrogen fuel cells.
